Bloomberg Businessweek's explanation of this cover is so aggressively content-free as to itself probably count as a performance of #normcore. But they are famously deliberate about their design decisions, and so the real explanation of this scare-quote "ugly" and scare-quote "amateurish" treatment must lie elsewhere—in the land of high-waisted denim and white athletic socks. Look at the O dumped on the page so "thoughtlessly" it lassos the subject's Adam's apple. You can't make something this bad by accident. Get it? Crappily corny is the new sophisticated.
