Are those hardwood floors?
They appear to be wood.
Well that's good. Because otherwise it would be ridiculous if an enormously wealthy company just laid down concrete floors in its offices with no carpeting. That would be uncomfortable as hell for the employees to walk on all day.
I mean, honestly, the place looks too much like a converted warehouse. I expected a brighter, more cheery atmosphere. This is not a dig at you btw. I think people who work their asses off all day long deserve to have some light and a feeling of openness around them.
Actually, honestly, it’s great. It’s a lot nicer than brightly-lit offices.
Oh interesting! How come? How does the dimmer lighting make it better?
Bright light is distracting. It’s a lot like an old library, where the primary sources of light are task lamps.
Yes! That was the other feel to it. The old library. I was trying to place it.
Hmmm...so does dimmer lighting with just the task lamps reduce eye strain for you guys?
Yes
Oh. Huh. Well, man, I need to re-investigate what I thought I knew about eye strain.
I don't see any task lamps in there. So just the computer screens and dim lighting works for all of you?
Dim lighting not only saves power, it also saves money on Botox.
