I'm confused. The bacon, egg, and cheese on this menu is $8.
It's $11 for smoked salmon.
Yeah, that menu is outdated. The BEC is now $11, according to Gawker editor Max Read.
I think a to-go BEC bagel should top out at 6.50
This is based off of my three favorite bagel places: Le Bagel Delight, Ess-a-Bagel, and BK Bagel and Coffee.
Disputation. A la @taylor berman, there is no such thing as "a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich." What bacon? What egg? What cheese? What bagel? It can be utter crap (Right price: $2.99) or transcendent with farm-fresh local eggs, aged cheddar or creamy fontina, house-cured etc. bacon (right price: Sky's the limit!). Your specimen looks like an $11 model, plausibly. And @max read, this is not boringly obvious.
damn
Good answer.
I think $11 is fine if it's an exceptional bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. If not, you really shouldn't pay more than $5.
Yup. Agreed. But I wouldn't quite start feeling some kind of way until we entered the $8 realm.
Sometimes the problem with these "disputations" posts is that the answer is sort of boringly obvious.
oof
Eleven bucks is too much to pay for a bagel sandwich but what are you gonna do.
(Although one answer is: "get an egg and pork banh mi down on Grand Street instead, and get much more food for much less money.")
$5
