When I first started parting my hair as an adult I parted it on the right, until my barber pointed out that the cowlick/whorl at the back of my scalp rotated clockwise on the right side, which meant it'd be easier to tamp down if I parted on the left. (That is, my "natural part" was on the left.) Earlier this week I got my hair cut without a part for the first time in five or six years—basically the same on top, but my barber faded the left side all the way up, so I don't need to find and part with a comb. It's going well so far; takes less time in the morning and is generally lighter for summer.
Keep us updated as the summer peaks, and then wanes.
Sounds like an excellent use of Kinja!
No. I've found that, in general, people respect me.
I'd like to invite hair enthusiast and expert Meredith Woerner to comment on this post.
I had a very intense hair stylist who convinced me to part my hair against my natural part in hopes of "disrupting the natural tendencies you have to self destruct." I don't go to her anymore.
Hahahahaha. What?
